Sunday night’s award ceremony was kicked off by an unscheduled performance – Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar performing ‘Freedom.’
The entire performance was intense and amazingly choreographed, and equipped with a shallow pool she and her dancers could splash around in. Not to mention the killer pyrotechnic display behind them.
Both artists passionately weave political messages in their lyrics and performances, which was the perfect way to start of the BET Awards, where both were nominated in some of the night’s biggest categories.
